Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has been extolled for fostering peace, unity and sustainable development across Gombe state in his five and half years of stewardship.
The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Urban Development and Regional Planning, Hon. Abiante Awaji, and the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, gave the commendation on Thursday during a state banquet in honor of participants of the 13th meeting of the National Council on Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, held in Gombe.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Awaji, a federal lawmaker from Rivers state, applauded Governor Inuwa Yahaya for creating an atmosphere of peace and unity in Gombe State, stating his leadership has become a magnet for national events and economic opportunities, referencing the 13th National Council on Lands, Housing and Urban Development.
“My impression of Gombe is that it is not just a jewel in the Savannah; it is a jewel in Africa. When we arrived yesterday, I privately embarked on a tour of the city. From what I have seen, not many cities can boast the peace I have experienced here in Gombe. I hope to have more opportunities to return to this wonderful state. Please consider me one of your own and count me as an honorary member of Gombe State in the House of Representatives”, Hon. Awake remarked.
Also speaking, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, remarked that he was impressed by the enormous impactful projects executed by Governor Inuwa Yahaya, stating that “this is the kind of leadership we want across Nigeria.”
“I have come to Gombe severally on personal or official visits but this visit will go down the lane as a memorable one because hosting us to this state banquet by my brother, I have seen the diverse cultures of Gombe. And I’ve seen how Gombe people are living peacefully with love for one another”, the Minister stated.
“Anywhere you see this kind of peace and development as I’ve seen in Gombe, it is always from the leadership. It is when the leader is equitable and just in governance. Honestly speaking, God has blessed Gombe with good leadership”, he added.
Dangiwa further said, “Anytime I visit Gombe, I witness new developments. The last time I was in Gombe for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Renewed Hope Estate, we went round the state to commission some projects executed by the Governor. We commissioned 12 impactful projects. If you are familiar with the gullies in Gombe and have had the privilege to learn about the Governor's significant interventions to address them, you would truly appreciate his efforts. These projects have majorly touched the lives of the common people.”
In his response, Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized the importance of synergy in addressing Nigeria’s housing and urban development challenges, highlighting once again, the achievements of Gombe State under his leadership, particularly in land reforms, infrastructure development and urban renewal initiatives.
He stated that his administration has prioritized peace and inclusivity as the foundation for the state’s sustainable development, informing his guests that this has enabled his government to embark on projects that have improved the quality of life for the people of the state.
In his welcome remarks, the Chief of Staff of Government House, Abubakar Inuwa Kari, expressed gratitude to the Minister and other key stakeholders for selecting Gombe as the host for the 13th National Council on Lands, Housing, and Urban Development meeting.
