Governor Bala Mohammed Calls for Inclusive Governance, Dismisses Political Detractors

By, Abdulwahab Muhammad Bauchi

Bauchi, Nigeria – Governor Bala Mohammed has extended an olive branch to the opposition, including critics and dissenters, as part of his commitment to fostering an inclusive and non-exclusionary government in Bauchi State. The governor emphasized the crucial role of opposition, pressure groups, and interest groups in democratic governance, describing their contributions as fundamental to nation-building.

“Everyone is welcome, nothing is unimportant, and no one is insubstantial. The pivotal role of the opposition, pressure, and interest groups is a Magna Carta enshrined in all constitutional democracies,” Governor Mohammed stated.

His call for unity comes amid renewed political speculations surrounding his potential presidential ambition in 2027. In 2023, there was a strong push from supporters urging him to contest for the presidency, citing his impressive track record as a former Federal Civil Servant, Senator, and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The resurgence of this movement has unsettled some political figures, sparking heated debates within the political landscape.

Despite facing criticism from political opponents, Governor Mohammed has been widely acknowledged for his governance strides in Bauchi State. His infrastructural developments and policy initiatives have earned him praise, although detractors have continued to challenge his political influence.

Some critics have raised concerns over his advisory role to President Bola Tinubu on national issues, questioning why he should be at the forefront of such engagements. However, supporters argue that his experience and expertise make him a strong asset to both Bauchi State and the nation.

Governor Mohammed's supporters have dismissed ongoing opposition narratives as mere political mischief, blackmail, and attempts to derail progress. They assert that those seeking to discredit him will eventually be relegated to the "dustbin of history."

As Bauchi State navigates its political future, Governor Bala Mohammed remains steadfast in his leadership, urging unity and constructive engagement rather than divisive politics.
