Women Agricultural Support Programme Targets 150 in Bauchi state.
Good morning, distinguished guests, partners, and stakeholders.
From:Abdulwahab Muhammad Bauchi
Today, I stand before you with a deep sense of gratitude and purpose as we embark on a journey that promises to transform lives and build stronger communities. This is the story of the Women Agricultural Support Programme (WASP), an initiative born out of hope, vision, and the collective desire to empower women in Bauchi State.
This story begins with a spark—a vision shared by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), led by Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Her unwavering belief in the power of women to shape the future of agriculture and economic development has been the guiding force behind this program.
Imagine a woman in Bauchi State—a farmer with dreams of providing for her family, building a sustainable livelihood, and contributing to her community’s growth. Yet, like many others, she faces challenges: limited resources, lack of access to quality inputs, and the constant struggle to break free from the cycle of poverty. WASP was designed to change this narrative and give women like her the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive.
This initiative is more than just a program; it’s a lifeline. With a total budget of ₦36,270,270.27, WASP aims to equip 150 women with what they need to turn their dreams into reality. Each participant will receive agricultural starter inputs worth ₦100,000—high-quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and other essentials that will lay the foundation for successful farming. Alongside these resources, they will receive a cash grant of ₦100,000 to address immediate financial needs and invest in their agricultural ventures.
But this story is about more than financial support. It is about knowledge and empowerment. Through training on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), these women will gain the skills to optimize their farming activities, increase productivity, and build sustainable livelihoods.
Picture these women, armed with resources and newfound knowledge, stepping into their fields with confidence. They are not just growing crops; they are growing hope—for themselves, their families, and their communities. Each seed they plant carries the promise of food security, economic stability, and a brighter future.
As we launch this program today, we are writing the next chapter in the story of Bauchi State. This chapter is about resilience, transformation, and the power of women to drive change. WASP is not just about individual empowerment; it is about building stronger communities where women are at the forefront of progress.
We owe this story’s success to the vision and leadership of Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. Her dedication to women’s empowerment at the national level has been instrumental in bringing this initiative to life. We also recognize the invaluable contributions of our partners and stakeholders, whose support has turned a dream into reality.
Finally, to the 150 women beneficiaries, I say this: You are the heroes of this story. Your courage, determination, and willingness to embrace this opportunity inspire us all. As you take the first steps in this journey, know that you are not alone. You have the support of an entire community that believes in you and your potential to create change.
Together, we are writing a story of hope, progress, and transformation. Let us continue to work hand-in-hand, ensuring that the impact of this program echoes for generations to come.
Thank you, and may this program serve as a beacon of hope and progress for all.
