  • Honored with the title ‘Khadimul Qur’an’
  • Commended for constructing Tsangaya schools, enrolling Almajiri children in Go-Health

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has hosted Tsangaya teachers from across Gombe State to a special Iftar at the Government House, continuing his tradition of fostering engagement with the Muslim community during Ramadan.

The event provided an opportunity for Governor Yahaya to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of Tsangaya teachers and Almajiri children, recognizing the vital role of Qur’anic education in societal development.

In his address, the Governor highlighted his administration’s efforts to provide a dignified learning environment for Almajiri children through the construction of mega and mini Tsangaya schools across the state. He pledged to continue integrating Qur’anic and Western education, ensuring that Tsangaya pupils have access to both knowledge and essential social services.

“We recognize the importance of Tsangaya schools in shaping the moral and educational foundation of our children. That is why we have prioritized their welfare through various initiatives, including constructing Tsangaya schools and enrolling them in the Go-Health program for free access to quality healthcare. We will sustain and improve these efforts,” he assured.

The Governor further revealed that his administration has sent a bill on Almajiri and out-of-school children to the State Assembly, aiming to institutionalize measures that will absorb and support them.

Tsangaya Teachers Laud Governor’s Commitment

Speaking on behalf of the Tsangaya teachers, Goni Mai Babban Allo commended Governor Yahaya for his unwavering support of the Almajiri system. He acknowledged key interventions such as the construction of Tsangaya schools, installation of solar streetlights, and integration into the state’s healthcare program through the Gombe State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (Go-Health).

“We have never had a government as dedicated to the welfare of Tsangaya teachers and pupils as this one,” he stated.

In recognition of his contributions, the Forum of Alaramma conferred the honorary title ‘Khadimul Qur’an’ on Governor Yahaya, celebrating his role in advancing Qur’anic education and the well-being of its stakeholders.
