Bauchi Shines on Global Stage as Governor Bala Mohammed Leads Delegation to FITA2025 in Tunis

The Bauchi State Government proudly announces the successful participation of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, Executive Governor of Bauchi State, at the 8th edition of the Financing Investment and Trade in Africa (FITA2025) summit, held from May 6–7, 2025, at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Convention Center in Tunis, Tunisia.

Organized by the Tunisia Africa Business Council (TABC), FITA2025 brought together over 2,000 influential participants from more than 60 countries—including heads of state, ministers, investors, and global CEOs. This year’s edition also marked the 10th anniversary of TABC, held under the High Patronage of the President of Tunisia.

Governor Bala Mohammed led a high-powered delegation featuring key government officials and private-sector representatives, including the Chief Economic Adviser, Chairman of the House Committee on Commerce, Senior Special Assistant on Strategy, and select Bauchi-based entrepreneurs.

Showcasing Bauchi to the World

At the “Invest in Bauchi” side event,

Governor Mohammed delivered a compelling presentation, positioning Bauchi as a leading destination for international investment. He spotlighted opportunities across agriculture, energy, solid minerals, tourism, infrastructure, and industrial zones.

The pitch was met with enthusiasm from global investors, many of whom pledged to attend the upcoming Bauchi State International Investment Summit scheduled for July 2025.

MoU and Strategic Partnerships

A major milestone achieved during the summit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tunisia Africa Business Council. The agreement sets a foundation for long-term cooperation in investment promotion, technology exchange, and sustainable development.

Governor Mohammed also toured industrial sites in Tunis, particularly in agribusiness and light manufacturing, securing early-stage agreements with firms expressing interest in setting up in Bauchi State.

Bilateral Engagements

On the sidelines of FITA2025, the Governor held bilateral meetings with top regional and international stakeholders including:

  • Senator Sadiq Umar
  • Dr. Olufemi Ogunyemi, MD of NEPZA
  • The Minister of Tourism from Madagascar
  • The Deputy Minister of Tourism from Ghana
  • Executives from key development finance institutions

These strategic engagements yielded promising investment leads, many of which will be followed up in preparation for the July summit.

Next Steps: FITA2025 Outcomes Implementation

To consolidate gains from FITA2025, Governor Mohammed announced the creation of a FITA2025 Outcomes Implementation Unit within the Bauchi State Investment Promotion Agency. The unit will oversee MoU execution, track investment leads, and coordinate follow-up efforts.

A comprehensive public report on Bauchi’s participation and outcomes from FITA2025 will be released to ensure transparency and engage stakeholders.

Acknowledgment

The Bauchi State Government extends sincere gratitude to the Tunisian Ambassador to Nigeria for his critical role in facilitating the state's participation.

FITA2025 has further cemented Bauchi’s reputation as “Africa’s Next Frontier for Inclusive Investment.” The state is now more committed than ever to transforming its economy through innovation, partnership, and sustainable development.
