Gombe Govt Approves Over 74km of Rural Roads, N5.5B for Buhari Industrial Park Completion, and Multi-Billion Naira Capital Projects

The Gombe State Executive Council, under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has approved a raft of high-impact infrastructure and development projects aimed at accelerating socio-economic growth across the state.

At its 46th meeting held in the Council Chambers of the Government House, the Council sanctioned the construction of over 74 kilometers of rural roads across four Local Government Areas, in partnership with the World Bank-supported Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).

According to the Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Ethical Orientation, Hon. Mijinyawa Ardo Tilde, this latest round of approvals reflects the administration’s continued commitment to expanding infrastructure, enhancing industrialization, and improving living conditions across the state.

Providing further details, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Engr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu, noted the following RAAMP roads were approved:

  • Kembu–Kidda–Panda–Garin Alhaji Road (25km) – Akko LGA
  • Kwanan Daniya–Daban Fulani–Bajoga Magaba Road (18km) – Funakaye LGA
  • Dukku–Zaune Road (31km) – Dukku LGA

A counterpart funding of N3 billion was approved to support these and earlier RAAMP projects.

In addition, the Council approved:

  • N545 million as augmentation for the Kumo–Luggerewo–Papa Road, with a one-month completion deadline.
  • N7.6 billion for the long-delayed Ture–Gelengu Road to reflect current market realities.
  • N2.4 billion for a 4.5km road linking Talasse Road to Balanga Gari in Balanga LGA.

On environmental and urban development, the Council approved N2.4 billion in compensation for affected properties along a 30-kilometer gully erosion corridor, as part of the World Bank-funded ACReSAL Project.

Meanwhile, the Council ratified the handover of Kumo General Hospital to the Federal Government for conversion into a Federal Medical Centre, expanding access to advanced healthcare.

The Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Hon. Muhammad Gambo Magaji, announced further strategic approvals:

  • N5.2 billion as counterpart funding for UBEC projects (2024 to Q1 2025).
  • $481,000 provided for 2025 Hajj operations, covering 969 pilgrims.
  • N769 million reimbursed by the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON).
  • N334 million for compensation under the BAP 4 road initiative and road dualization projects.

In a major boost to industrialization, the Council approved N5.5 billion for the completion of the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park. The fund will be used to provide the critical infrastructure needed to operationalize the park.

“So far, more than nine companies have either completed or are setting up their facilities at the park. Once operational, it will make Gombe a key industrial hub in the sub-region,” said Hon. Gambo Magaji.

To ensure the continued provision of potable water in Gombe metropolis, N2.1 billion was approved for the annual operation and maintenance of the Gombe Regional Water Supply Project, which has been under the management of GCC Company since 2007.

These sweeping approvals reaffirm the Yahaya administration’s focus on sustainable development, rural access, industrialization, and improved public services.
