RE: OMOYELE SOWORE’S BASELESS ATTACKS ON SHAMSUDEEN BALA MOHAMMED – A RECKLESS CAMPAIGN OF BLACKMAIL AND MISINFORMATION
The Editor
It is both unfortunate and unacceptable that Mr. Omoyele Sowore, who often parades himself as a voice of conscience and justice, has once again resorted to his usual tactics of spreading unsubstantiated allegations and misleading narratives—this time targeting Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed, the son of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State.
Sowore’s latest posts are a cocktail of distortions, innuendos, and deliberate falsehoods aimed at provoking outrage, undermining reputations, and sowing discord for personal or political gain. We must set the record straight: Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed is not the figure Sowore paints him to be. He is a law-abiding, humble, and service-driven young man who has earned the respect of many in Bauchi and beyond.
Distorting the Truth: A Habitual Pattern
This is not the first time Sowore has taken to social media to launch unwarranted attacks without a shred of credible evidence. His approach is simple: fabricate a narrative, amplify it through outrage, and hope the public swallows it. But we are wiser now.
His attempt to portray the Bala Mohammed family as corrupt or oppressive is both laughable and desperate. The truth speaks otherwise. The First Lady, Hajiya Aisha Bala Mohammed, has been at the forefront of many social development projects—especially in the areas of maternal health, education, and women empowerment. These are real contributions with real impact, not media stunts.
On the “Stolen Properties” Claim
Let us be clear: accusations are not proof of guilt. If Mr. Sowore possesses any verifiable evidence of wrongdoing, he is duty-bound to present it before the appropriate legal channels. But instead of seeking justice, he prefers trial by social media—a tactic unbecoming of anyone who claims to stand for integrity.
His motives are transparent: he targets those who refuse to yield to his pressure, using public platforms to attempt character assassination. This is blackmail, not journalism.
Let the Achievements Speak
Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration has transformed Bauchi State in numerous ways—from infrastructure to agriculture, healthcare to youth empowerment. These achievements are well-documented and widely acknowledged, even by non-partisan observers.
If Sowore is genuinely interested in accountability, he should concern himself with facts, not fabrications. Real journalism is built on investigation, not insinuation.
A Call for Responsibility and Truth
We, the people of Bauchi and lovers of truth across Nigeria, will not remain silent while individuals like Sowore seek to rewrite reality with reckless claims and toxic rhetoric. His recent attacks are nothing but a distraction, designed to generate controversy where none exists.
We stand in full solidarity with Shamsudeen Bala Mohammed and his family—not because they are above scrutiny, but because they are being unfairly targeted without cause.
Nigerians must reject the politics of smear and slander. We deserve better. The truth is not loud, but it is lasting.
End.
