🎯 900 Female Students Empowered as SAZU, Jobberman, Giwo Agro Launch Soft Skills Revolution

Gadau, Bauchi State

In a powerful step toward bridging the gap between graduation and gainful employment, 900 female students of Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) have undergone a transformative Soft Skills and Employability Training, held at the university’s Gadau and Yuli campuses.

The initiative, powered by Jobberman and Giwo Agro with support from the Mastercard Foundation, was facilitated by the university’s Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) to equip final-year students with practical life and workplace skills.

Speaking during the opening session, Vice Chancellor Prof. Fatimah Tahir, represented by Dr. Salisu Ibrahim Waziri, Director of EDC, underscored the need for additional competencies beyond academic credentials.

“It is not enough to graduate without extra value. Learning to communicate effectively, present yourself professionally, and write winning proposals are skills that define your future,” she told the participants.

Prof. Tahir described the training as a "golden opportunity", urging the students to leverage the rare access to free, high-impact mentorship provided by Jobberman and Giwo Agro.

What They Learned: Skills for the Real World

The multi-day training delivered hands-on sessions in:

Public speaking and communication

CV and résumé writing

Business and grant proposal writing

ICT skills and workplace readiness

It was tailored for students in 300 and 400 levels, selected from various departments across the two campuses. According to the EDC, 600 participants came from Gadau, while 300 were trained in Yuli. Plans are already in motion to replicate the training at the Misau campus.

Giwo Agro: We're Building Job-Ready Graduates

In his remarks, Malam Ibrahim Aminu Tahir, Lead Consultant of Giwo Agro, stressed the long-term benefits of soft skills in navigating post-graduation challenges.

“This is more than just training. It’s about empowering young women to thrive, compete, and lead. Our commitment to SAZU remains strong.”

Educate a Woman, Transform a Nation

Participants left the sessions energized and equipped—not just with certificates, but with confidence and clarity about the world ahead. As the popular saying goes: “Educating a woman is educating a society.” ppl
