Bauchi, Nigeria – Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State has reaffirmed his commitment to religious inclusivity by donating $100 to each of the 176 Christian pilgrims from the state embarking on their pilgrimage. The gesture has been widely commended by Christian stakeholders, including Pastor Zakka Magaji, Musa Wakili Nakwada, Simon Sarauta, and Rev. Abraham Damina, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bauchi State.
The governor's support comes in the wake of historical challenges faced by Christians in Bauchi, including reported persecution, church bombings, and forced displacements. Governor Mohammed's commitment to religious inclusivity extends beyond the Christian community. Earlier, he had made a similar donation of $100 and 300 Saudi Riyals to 2,682 Muslim pilgrims from the state. His balanced approach has been praised as a model for promoting unity and mutual respect among different religious groups.
