PDP Crisis Deepens as Akuyam Accuses Dogara of Political Opportunism
In a detailed rebuttal, Akuyam accused Dogara of distorting facts and attempting to rewrite political history. He refuted Dogara’s claim that Bala Mohammed owed his governorship to Wike’s intervention, asserting that Bala had already secured significant support within the party.
“Dogara is suffering from selective amnesia. He was not in the PDP at the time, yet he claims to know how Bala Mohammed emerged as our candidate. His statements are misleading and self-serving,” Akuyam stated.
He further described Dogara as a “serial opportunist” who only aligns with political figures when it benefits him financially or politically. Akuyam also alleged that Dogara is now positioning himself to gain favors from Wike, whom he referred to as Dogara’s "new paymaster."
The former PDP chairman also dismissed allegations that Bala Mohammed betrayed Bello Kirfi, emphasizing that the governor played a critical role in restoring the elder statesman’s title. He argued that the real issue in the PDP crisis is whether democratic institutions should take precedence over personal friendships.
With tensions rising within the PDP, observers believe the ongoing feud could have significant implications for the party’s unity and future elections.
