Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, met today with the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Mohammed Ali Pate, at his office in Abuja. The visit was part of the Governor’s ongoing efforts to engage with key federal stakeholders to attract more developmental projects to Gombe State.

During the meeting, Governor Inuwa Yahaya reiterated his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the Federal Government’s takeover and conversion of General Hospital Kumo into a Federal Medical Centre (FMC). He described the decision as a major milestone that would significantly improve healthcare delivery in the state and the North East region.

“I am deeply grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the conversion of General Hospital Kumo into a Federal Medical Centre. This transformation will not only improve healthcare access for our people but will also help reduce medical tourism and strengthen our medical workforce,” the Governor stated.

Governor Yahaya also acknowledged the role of Professor Pate in advancing healthcare reforms across Nigeria and thanked him for his continued support in facilitating the hospital’s upgrade. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the state and federal government in ensuring quality healthcare services for citizens.

On his part, Professor Mohammed Ali Pate commended Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his dedication to improving the healthcare system in Gombe State. He praised the Governor’s proactive approach to infrastructure development, noting its positive impact on the well-being of the people.

“I must commend Governor Inuwa Yahaya for his commitment to transforming the healthcare sector in Gombe. His leadership and vision have set an example that should be emulated by others,” Professor Pate remarked.

The conversion of General Hospital Kumo into a Federal Medical Centre is expected to bring improved medical facilities, better healthcare services, and increased employment opportunities in the health sector, further positioning Gombe as a hub for quality medical care in the North East.
