Allegations of Booing Bauchi Senator Are False, Mischievous – Aide
By Muhammad Ahmad Saka, Bauchi
The recent media report alleging that Senator Shehu Buba, who represents Bauchi South Senatorial District, was booed during a condolence visit to Toro has been described as entirely false and fabricated to mislead the public.
Speaking to journalists in Bauchi, Ibrahim Ori, an aide who accompanied the senator during the visit, dismissed the report as baseless and mischievous.
“Our attention was drawn to a publication claiming that Senator Shehu Buba was booed during his visit to Toro. That is simply not true. We would have ignored the story, but it was filled with repetitive use of the word ‘alleged,’ showing a clear lack of certainty and professional judgment by the writer,” Ori said.
He questioned the motive behind the report, describing it as a deliberate attempt to distort facts and mislead readers.
“To set the record straight,” Ori continued, “Senator Shehu Buba visited Toro peacefully, paid a condolence visit, and generously donated N65 million to support his people. This included N50 million for mosque construction, N5 million for the family of the deceased, N5 million for elders, and another N5 million for the youth. He completed his visit without any incident. If anything occurred after he left, it should not be linked to him.”
Ori emphasized the importance of ethical journalism, particularly in today’s climate of national insecurity and economic challenges.
“Journalists have a vital role to play in national development. Through responsible reporting and constructive storytelling, they help shape public perception and promote unity. Sadly, some have chosen sensationalism and falsehood instead,” he noted.
He reaffirmed that Senator Shehu Buba remains committed to due process, transparency, and offering quality representation to the people of Bauchi South and the entire state.
“This distraction will not deter the senator from continuing his developmental strides and legislative responsibilities,” Ori added.
