Dogara, Bauchi Legislators Applaud Tinubu for Resuming Kolmani Oil Exploration
The Bauchi Legacy Legislators (BLL), a leading political and socio-economic advocacy group, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for staying true to his campaign promise by reviving oil exploration at the Kolmani oil fields located in the North.
Their commendation came shortly after Bashir Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, revealed in a recent BBC interview that operations at the Kolmani site would resume soon.
In a statement signed by the group’s leader, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, the BLL described the development as a major win for Northern Nigeria, calling on the Federal Government to ensure the Kolmani Oil and Gas project becomes a fully operational reality. According to the group, the project has the potential to transform communities, generate jobs, and boost economic activity in Bauchi State, the North-East, and beyond.
This isn't the first time Dogara has advocated for the Kolmani project. Back in February 2025, during the commissioning of a constituency project by Senator Shehu Buba in Toro Local Government Area, he made a strong appeal for the resumption of oil operations in the region.
Beyond Kolmani, Dogara also renewed calls for the construction of the long-awaited Kafin Zaki and Zungur/Bagel dams. He emphasized that these projects would significantly boost agriculture, create thousands of jobs, and increase Nigeria’s electricity supply.
The Bauchi Legacy Legislators didn’t stop there. They also called for the implementation of the Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe–Yola highway—a major infrastructure project that could greatly improve connectivity and commerce across the North-East.
The group concluded by affirming that successful execution of these critical projects would make a strong case for President Tinubu's re-election in 2027, should he choose to run again, especially in Bauchi and the wider North-East geopolitical zone.
