🎓 SAZU Commissions Career & Entrepreneurship Centres, 500KVA Generator at Yuli Campus

From Abdulwahab Muhammad Bauchí

Sa’adu Zungur University (SAZU) marked a major milestone on Friday, May 30, 2025, with the commissioning of three transformative projects at its Yuli Campus:

  • A Career Service Centre
  • An Entrepreneurship Development Centre
  • A 500KVA Generator

The projects reflect SAZU’s bold commitment to bridging the skills gap, improving graduate employability, and powering academic excellence.

💬 “A Pivotal Moment in Our Journey” – VC Prof. Fatimah Tahir

While unveiling the projects, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, described the development as a defining moment in the university’s evolution:

“These centres are not just for our students—they will benefit staff, the university community, and even our neighbouring communities. This is part of our steady progress toward becoming a true centre of excellence in scholarship.”

She noted that the Career Service Centre and Entrepreneurship Development Centre were fully funded by TETFund, while the 500KVA generator was provided by the university itself. She expressed appreciation to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for its continued support.

🙏 Appreciation to the Bauchi State Governor

Prof. Tahir also praised the unwavering support of His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed (Kauran Daular Usmaniyyah), Executive Governor of Bauchi State and Visitor to the university.

“His strategic leadership and investment in education continue to inspire our direction and growth,” she said.

🎯 Career & Entrepreneurship Centres to Equip Future Leaders

The newly launched centres are designed to empower students and graduates with practical skills and opportunities.

Dr. Wasilu Suleiman, Director of the Human Resources and Career Development Centre, said the centre will:

  • Equip students and alumni with relevant career skills
  • Provide access to employment and internship opportunities
  • Serve as a hub for career empowerment

On his part, Dr. Salisu Ibrahim Waziri, Director of the Entrepreneurship Development Centre, outlined two major areas of focus:

  1. Skills acquisition and vocational training
  2. Mindset development to encourage entrepreneurship

He emphasized that the goal is to bridge the gap between labour market demand and supply, and produce job creators, not just job seekers.

🔌 Powering Progress: 500KVA Generator Commissioned

To ensure uninterrupted academic and administrative activities, a 500KVA generator was also commissioned at the Yuli Campus. The investment reflects SAZU’s commitment to providing a conducive learning environment.

📸 A Historic Day for SAZU

The event was attended by top government officials, TETFund representatives, university staff, and students. It marked a proud moment in SAZU’s pursuit of innovation and excellence.

The Vice Chancellor urged all students and beneficiaries to take full advantage of the centres:

“Make use of these facilities. Learn. Build. Lead.”

📍 Expansion to Other Campuses

To deepen its impact, SAZU has also replicated the Career and Entrepreneurship Centres at its Gadau and Misau campuses, ensuring wider access to skill-building resources.
