SECOND EDITION OF SHEIKH DAHIRU USMAN BAUCHI FOUNDATION’S QUR’ANIC RECITATION COMPETITION KICKS OFF IN BAUCHI

The Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation has officially flagged off the Second Edition of its Annual Qur’anic Recitation Competition today, Sunday, May 4, 2025, in Bauchi State. The opening ceremony witnessed a large turnout of Islamic scholars, students, dignitaries, and community leaders from within Nigeria and neighboring countries.
This year’s competition builds on the success of the maiden edition held in March 2024 and continues the Foundation’s mission of promoting Qur’anic excellence, Islamic knowledge, and moral development among the youth. The event includes not only recitation of the Holy Qur’an but also examinations in Fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence), Tawhid (monotheism), and Sirah (Prophetic biography).
In his opening remarks, one of the Foundation’s directors emphasized the significance of the competition in nurturing future scholars:
“We are raising a generation that understands and lives by the Qur’an. This is not just a competition, it’s a platform for transformation.”
Established in 2007 and structured into 12 directorates in 2014, the Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi Foundation has been at the forefront of Islamic and Western education, humanitarian service, and peacebuilding. The Qur’anic Recitation Competition is a flagship program aimed at encouraging the correct recitation of the Qur’an as revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W), while also fostering unity and excellence among Muslim youth.
Over the next few days, participants will engage in various categories based on age and level of memorization. Winners will be awarded scholarships, learning materials, and other prizes as a means of encouraging deeper commitment to Islamic scholarship.
The Foundation extends its appreciation to all supporters, partners, and volunteers contributing to the success of this noble initiative. It remains committed to holding the event annually, Insha Allah, and to expanding its reach across more regions.
