20 Local Government Coordinators Inaugurated to Champion Economic Inclusion and Social Protection

The SESHEB Initiative for Sustainable Development has launched a new grassroots campaign aimed at empowering women and youth across Bauchi State. At the heart of this drive is the inauguration of 20 Local Government Area (LGA) Coordinators who will lead the charge for community-based transformation.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony in Bauchi, the State Coordinator, Hajiya Baheejah Mahmood Abdullahi, reaffirmed SESHEB’s commitment to reaching the most vulnerable segments of society — especially women, children, and marginalized groups.

“Our mandate is to provide enlightenment, advocacy, support services, access to interventions, and platforms for skills development and sustainable empowerment,” she said.

Hajiya Baheejah emphasized the importance of active women participation in politics and governance, stating that electing capable leaders is crucial for meaningful development.

“If good leaders are not elected, there will be no way to improve the lives of the people,” she warned.
“Women, who often bear the brunt of societal challenges, must rise to the occasion, become self-reliant, and take control of their economic future.”

She highlighted SESHEB’s strategic focus on strengthening social protection systems, enhancing community security, and creating economic opportunities for youth and women through practical interventions.

Addressing the newly appointed Local Government Coordinators, she described their roles as critical:

“Your appointment is not merely symbolic; it is a call to action. You are the heartbeat of this initiative in your respective LGAs. You are the voice of hope to the voiceless, the eyes that see hidden struggles, and the hands that carry relief to those in need.”

She urged them to operate with unity, guided by compassion, integrity, and accountability. She also encouraged building strong community partnerships and documenting local challenges and opportunities to enhance impact.

“This event marks a milestone, not only for us as an organisation but for the communities we are committed to serving,” she declared.
“Today, we formally welcome 20 Local Government Coordinators — selfless individuals who have answered the call to serve as foot soldiers of change and development across Bauchi State.”

In her closing remarks, Hajiya Baheejah expressed optimism about the future:

“Through your dedication, we hope to reach those most in need — women, children, youth, and vulnerable groups — and provide them with real opportunities for empowerment, protection, and sustainable development.”
