The Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has announced the dissolution of all Area Education Officers and School Support Officers across the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
This was disclosed by the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed Duguri, during an engagement with Education Secretaries from the 20 LGAs held in Bauchi.
According to Alhaji Duguri, the directive also affects Arabic and Christian Visiting Teachers, Early Child Care Development and Education (ECCDE) Supervisors, and Library Supervisors under the Local Education Authorities (LEAs), who have all been relieved of their duties with immediate effect.
The SUBEB Chairman explained that the action is part of an ongoing strategic reform aimed at overhauling the monitoring and supervision structures within the state’s basic education system.
“This dissolution is a key step in strengthening educational oversight, improving service delivery, and enhancing learning outcomes across our schools,” Duguri stated.
He further directed all relevant departments within SUBEB and the LGEAs to ensure a smooth and seamless transition, including the protection of official records and continuity of critical programs.
Going forward, only School Support Officers appointed through processes endorsed by UBEC, SUBEB, and the LGEAs will be recognized and allowed to operate.
He revealed that new guidelines have already been developed to standardize and streamline the appointment of School Support Officers. These guidelines will soon be distributed to all LEAs to ensure transparency, merit, and effectiveness in the selection process.
“All affected officers are hereby directed to report to their respective LGEA headquarters immediately for documentation and assessment,” the Chairman concluded.
