Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State joined other eminent Nigerians in Daura, Katsina State, to pay his last respects at the funeral of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari. The solemn ceremony, held in the late president’s hometown, was conducted with full state honors, drawing a distinguished array of national leaders and well-wishers.

Among those in attendance were President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, several serving and former governors, ministers, and top government officials, as well as respected religious and traditional leaders from across the country.

Addressing journalists shortly after the funeral rites, Governor Bala Mohammed paid heartfelt tribute to the late statesman, describing him as a man of integrity and principle whose impact on Nigeria’s political landscape remains indelible. He recounted his personal encounters with the former president, noting how President Buhari’s leadership and values helped shape his own political journey.

“President Muhammadu Buhari was not just a leader; he was a symbol of national unity, sacrifice, and discipline. His contributions to the development of our nation, particularly in promoting anti-corruption and integrity in public service, will never be forgotten,” Governor Bala remarked.

The governor prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the soul of the departed president, asking the Almighty to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannah Firdaus. He also extended condolences to the bereaved family, the people of Katsina State, and Nigerians at large.

“This is not just a loss to one family or one region. This is a national loss, and we all share in the grief,” he added.

The funeral served as a moment of unity and reflection for a nation mourning the departure of one of its most iconic leaders.
