Governor Inuwa Yahaya Leads Northern Governors to Bid Farewell to Former President Muhammadu Buhari

Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, yesterday, led his colleagues in the Forum to attend the funeral of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, who was laid to rest at his residence in Daura, Katsina State.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya was received on arrival in Katsina by Governor Dikko Umar Radda, along with other senior government officials and dignitaries.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led thousands of mourners in paying their final respects to the late Nigerian leader.
Among foreign dignitaries in attendance were President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno of Chad, President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau, and Prime Minister Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine of Niger Republic.
Also present were the Vice President Kashim Shettima, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, serving and former governors, ministers, lawmakers, and a host of other top officials and dignitaries from within and outside the country.
The funeral prayer was held at the helipad area of Daura and was led by the Chief Imam of Daura, Sheikh Salisu Rabiu.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya paid glowing tributes and offered prayers for the eternal repose of the former President, praying that Almighty Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Aljannatul Firdaus.
Speaking to newsmen, Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the late President Buhari as a symbol of integrity, patriotism and selfless leadership.
He noted that former President Buhari lived and led with principles, dedicating his life to the service of Nigeria and the upliftment of its people, especially the poor.
“Today, the nation bids farewell to a true statesman. His legacy of simplicity, discipline and patriotic devotion to duty will forever remain part of our national story,” Governor Inuwa Yahaya stated.
