The Gombe State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly distanced itself from a circulating video clip that suggests the involvement of some of its members in a plot to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in the state.
In a press statement signed by the PDP State Publicity Secretary, Abdulkadir Ahmad Dukku, the party clarified that the video, which appears to be a TVC News report, falsely linked the PDP to a meeting allegedly led by former gubernatorial candidate, Alh. Muhammad Jibrin Barde, in collaboration with opposition figures. The purported goal of the meeting, according to the video, was to hatch plans to topple the ruling APC government in Gombe.
The PDP leadership firmly disassociates the party from what it described as a "so-called collaborative meeting," dismissing it as false, ill-motivated, and illegal. The party emphasized that no member is allowed to attend such gatherings without official permission from the party leadership.
"The Gombe State PDP office is unaware of the said meeting, was not represented, and gave no authorization for any official or member to participate," the statement read. It added that those seen in the video must have done so in their personal capacity and without resigning formally from the PDP.
Describing the event as a deliberate attempt to sow confusion within the party, the PDP cautioned its members and supporters to disregard the misleading video and remain focused. "These faceless political moves are distractions meant to destabilize our ranks ahead of the 2027 elections," the party said.
The statement concluded by urging all PDP members in Gombe State to remain loyal and united, stressing that internal cohesion is key to the party’s success in the next electoral cycle.
