In a bold move to safeguard livestock health and support pastoral communities, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, representing Bauchi South Senatorial District, has launched a large-scale vaccination campaign targeting 85,000 animals across the region.

The official flag-off ceremony took place in Gwabiya town, Bogoro Local Government Area, and was attended by prominent figures including Hon. Aminu Tukur, Hon. Buli, Hon. Yusuf, and several directors from the Senator’s office.

Expanding the Reach of Rural Health

Speaking at the event, Senator Shehu Buba highlighted that this year’s campaign builds on the success of a similar initiative held last year in Buzaye, Bauchi LGA, where 40,000 cattle were vaccinated.
> “Last year, we vaccinated 40,000 cattle in Bauchi LGA. This year, we’re doubling the effort with 85,000 animals across Bauchi South. Our team will reach every corner of the district,” the Senator affirmed.

The vaccination campaign—locally referred to as huji—is aimed at preventing common livestock diseases, improving productivity, and enhancing food security in the region.

 Community Endorsement and Cultural Appreciation

The initiative was met with overwhelming support from Fulani herders and livestock owners, who praised the Senator for his dedication to their welfare. In a heartfelt gesture, they presented him with traditional gifts including nono (fresh milk), fura, and dambu, symbolizing their gratitude and cultural pride.

> “This is the kind of leadership we need—one that listens, acts, and delivers,” said a representative of the herders.

A Legacy of Impactful Leadership

Senator Shehu Buba has become a household name in Bauchi South for his grassroots development projects. From distributing food during Ramadan to empowering youth and women with vocational tools, his leadership continues to resonate with the people.

This livestock vaccination campaign is not just a public health measure—it’s a testament to responsive governance and community-driven development.

Conclusion

As Bauchi South benefits from this proactive initiative, Senator Shehu Buba Umar reinforces his commitment to inclusive progress, rural empowerment, and sustainable development. With continued support from the people, the region is poised for a healthier and more prosperous future.
