Gombe State Government Flags Off Construction of Ultra-Modern Secretariat Complex

In a landmark move to boost efficiency in public administration and improve working conditions for its workforce, the Gombe State Government has signed a contract for the construction of an ultra-modern State Secretariat complex.
This development marks a major stride toward fulfilling the long-standing aspirations of civil servants, who for years have operated from rented and scattered office spaces across the city.
The contract, awarded to Datum Construction Company, was officially signed at a ceremony held at the Office of the Head of Civil Service. The event drew top government officials, as well as representatives from the construction firm and consultancy teams.
Speaking at the occasion, the Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Ahmed Kasimu Abdullahi, praised Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for his forward-thinking leadership and commitment to the welfare of Gombe’s public servants.
“When completed, this state-of-the-art Secretariat will offer a dignified and conducive working environment while eliminating the fragmentation of government offices across the city,” he said.
Also speaking, the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transportation, Engr. Dr. Usman Maijama’a Kallamu—represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Danladi Adamu—described the project as a transformative venture. He commended Datum Construction Company for emerging as the most qualified bidder and urged the firm to adhere strictly to quality standards and timelines.
The Project Manager of Datum Construction Company expressed his gratitude to the government for the trust placed in the firm and pledged to deliver a durable, world-class facility on schedule.
On his part, Engr. Aisani Kyari of Cross Vault Associates, the project consultant, reiterated their commitment to ensuring that the new Secretariat meets international standards and serves the needs of public service delivery for decades to come.
The event culminated in the symbolic handover of the project site to the contractor—officially kick-starting construction.
This project not only symbolizes infrastructural development but also represents a renewed commitment to effective governance and enhanced service delivery in Gombe State.
