APC Northeast Endorses Tinubu-Shettima Ticket for 2027

By Aliyu Bala Gerengi, Gombe

The Northeast Consultative Forum of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima as the party's sole presidential and vice-presidential candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement came following a stakeholders’ meeting of the party held at the International Conference Centre, Gombe, drawing key party leaders and representatives from across the region.

Governors of the three APC-controlled states in the zone — Borno, Gombe, and Yobe — unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the Tinubu-Shettima administration, citing visible progress and commitment to national development. They declared their full support for the continuity of the duo beyond 2027.

In a show of party unity, members of the National Assembly from the region also threw their weight behind the Tinubu-Shettima ticket. The endorsement was conveyed by Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, representing the Senate, and Hon. Usman Bello Kumo, speaking on behalf of the House of Representatives members from the zone.

However, the meeting was not without its moments of drama. A mild tension arose when the APC National Vice Chairman (Northeast), Dr. Mustapha Salihu, while speaking at the event, endorsed only the continuity of President Tinubu, omitting any reference to Vice President Shettima. The omission reportedly triggered murmurs and reminders from supporters of the Vice President present at the meeting.

The incident, though brief, has sparked curiosity and political speculation, suggesting undercurrents that may unfold with time.
