In a renewed push to strengthen agriculture and boost food security, Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, has officially flagged off the 2025 Wet Season Farming and Fertilizer Sales Campaign at a well-attended ceremony in Gajin Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area.

The event marked a major milestone in the state's agricultural calendar, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to empowering farmers and transforming the agricultural sector into a key driver of economic growth.

Government's Continued Support for Farmers

Addressing farmers, stakeholders, and community leaders at the event, Governor Bala Mohammed stressed the importance of timely access to fertilizer and other essential inputs to improve productivity and tackle food scarcity across the state.

“We are committed to repositioning agriculture in Bauchi. With timely provision of inputs and sustained investment in rural infrastructure, we aim to empower our farmers and strengthen the agricultural value chain,” he said.

The Governor outlined plans for mechanized farming, youth training programmes, and expanded rural development initiatives, adding that the sector remains central to the state's economic development agenda.

Stakeholders Commend the Initiative

The flag-off ceremony attracted widespread support from traditional rulers, farmers’ cooperatives, top government officials, and key players in the agricultural industry. Many commended the administration’s consistency in placing agriculture at the heart of Bauchi’s development strategy.

Farmers and residents of Gajin Duguri and surrounding communities expressed gratitude to the governor, noting that the initiative would go a long way in improving yields, increasing incomes, and ensuring food sufficiency.

The campaign is expected to roll out across all Local Government Areas, ensuring broad access to subsidized fertilizers and support services for the 2025 farming season.
