Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for signing into law two landmark bills that will bring transformative federal institutions to Gombe State—the Federal College of Education (Special) in Dukku and the Federal Orthopedic Hospital in Billiri.

The Governor described the President’s assent as a testament to responsive and inclusive leadership, noting that the establishment of these institutions will significantly boost education, healthcare, and socio-economic development in Gombe and the North-East region at large.

“On behalf of the government and people of Gombe State, I sincerely commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this historic gesture. These institutions will not only improve access to quality education and specialized healthcare but will also create jobs and spur development across our state,” Governor Inuwa Yahaya stated.

He extended his appreciation to Hon. Ali Isa J.C. and Hon. Abdullahi El-Rasheed for sponsoring the bills, praising their dedication and legislative foresight. The Governor also acknowledged the National Assembly leadership, members, and all stakeholders whose advocacy and collaboration made the establishment of these vital institutions possible.

It will be recalled that President Tinubu recently signed into law:

  • The College of Education Act Amendment Bill (2025) — establishing the Federal College of Education (Special) in Dukku, dedicated to training teachers for learners with special needs and promoting inclusive education nationwide.
  • The Public Hospitals Management Board Amendment Bill (2025) — creating the Federal Orthopedic Hospital in Billiri, set to deliver advanced orthopedic and trauma care while easing the load on overstretched medical facilities in other regions.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya affirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the smooth takeoff and full operationalization of these institutions, emphasizing that the development aligns with his government’s priorities in health and education.

“This marks a new chapter for Gombe. These federal institutions will complement our state’s initiatives and reinforce Gombe’s status as a hub of excellence in healthcare and education. We are truly grateful to Mr. President and assure him of our continued support for his Renewed Hope agenda,” the Governor concluded.

End.
