Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has felicitated with Muslims in Gombe State, Nigeria, and across the world on the arrival of the Islamic New Year, 1447 AH.
Describing the New Year as a time for spiritual reflection, renewal, and recommitment to the noble values of Islam and humanity, Governor Inuwa Yahaya encouraged the faithful to draw inspiration from this sacred period.
“The beginning of a new Hijri year is an opportunity to reflect on our journey so far, draw lessons from the past, and embrace the future with renewed hope and stronger faith,” the Governor stated.
He urged Muslims to use the blessed month of Muharram and the days beyond to offer fervent prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in Gombe State and the entire nation. The Governor also called for special supplications for abundant rainfall and a bumper harvest during the ongoing farming season.
Amidst national economic challenges, the NSGF Chairman emphasized the need for unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence among Gombe’s diverse ethnic and religious communities.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people, pledging to sustain the delivery of people-centered policies and infrastructure projects that will uplift lives.
“As we begin this new Islamic year, I am optimistic that it will open new doors of opportunity and progress for our dear state and nation. I urge all citizens to remain steadfast in faith, uphold moral values, and continue to pray for peace and prosperity in our land,” he added.
The Governor further encouraged Muslims to emulate the spirit of sacrifice, patience, and resilience demonstrated in the Hijrah (migration) of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as they step into the New Year with faith and optimism.
