Obasanjo Applauds Gombe’s Agro-Industrial Vision During Visit
“You Have Done What Many Only Talk About,” Says Former President as He Hails Governor Inuwa Yahaya
Former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has praised Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State for his bold and visionary leadership in transforming Gombe into a hub of agricultural and industrial innovation, describing the Governor’s achievements as “what many only talk about.”
Obasanjo made the remarks during a courtesy visit at the Presidential Lodge in Gombe, shortly after commissioning the ultra-modern Seed Processing Factory established by Premier Seed Nigeria Limited at the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park, Dadinkowa.
“Gombe is Leading by Example” — Obasanjo
Chief Obasanjo described the 1,000-hectare Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park as a strategic and forward-thinking initiative, commending Governor Yahaya for his pragmatic approach to governance.
> “Gombe, under your leadership, is charting a path that others in Nigeria can learn from. You have done what many only talk about. This is true development from the grassroots,” the elder statesman declared.
He further emphasized the pivotal role of seed technology in agricultural transformation:
> “Seeds are the very foundation of farming. If we fail to focus on seed quality, the entire agricultural value chain suffers. The Premier Seed factory will benefit Gombe, the Northeast, and the whole nation.”
Obasanjo expressed optimism that the facility, equipped with cutting-edge machinery, would greatly enhance farming outcomes by providing farmers access to improved, certified, and climate-resilient seed varieties.
In his remarks, Governor Inuwa Yahaya warmly welcomed the former President and expressed deep appreciation for his statesmanship and decades-long dedication to national development, particularly in the agriculture sector.
> “Your Excellency, we receive you with the highest regard. You are a father of the nation and a symbol of patriotism. We thank God for your legacy and are proud to build upon the foundations you laid,” the Governor said.
Governor Yahaya explained that the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park was a core component of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, focused on unlocking the state’s agro-industrial value chains.
> “Our goal is to create a business-friendly environment that drives investment, jobs, and prosperity for our people,” he stated.
He noted that Premier Seed Company, as the first investor in the Park, was already delivering returns on that vision. The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to agricultural modernization, industrial expansion, and private sector partnerships.
