The Bauchi State Government has taken a bold step towards youth empowerment and technological advancement by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).
The partnership is designed to unlock the potential of science, technology, and innovation to boost entrepreneurship, drive inclusive development, and improve livelihoods across the state.
As part of the agreement, the Technology Incubation Centre (TIU) in Bauchi will be upgraded and developed into a regional center of excellence, serving the entire Northeast zone and fostering homegrown innovations.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Commissioner for Power, Science, and Technology, Modibbo Ahmed Usman, who signed on behalf of the Bauchi State Government, said the collaboration aligns with the administration’s broader vision to build a knowledge-driven economy.
“This partnership reflects our government’s strong commitment to youth development through science and technology. We are creating new pathways for innovation, job creation, and self-reliance,” he said.
He added that the initiative will open up opportunities for young people to transform their ideas into viable businesses, contributing meaningfully to the state’s economic growth.
In her remarks, the Zonal Director of NBTI, Hajiya Hadiza Mohammed, who represented the Board’s Director-General and CEO, Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, reaffirmed the Board’s support for the initiative.
“We are committed to helping Bauchi tap into the wealth of research, patents, and innovations generated in Nigerian universities and research institutions. Our goal is to help local entrepreneurs turn these into commercial successes,” she noted.
The MoU represents a shared vision between Bauchi State and NBTI to build a future where innovation drives prosperity and where young people are equipped with the tools to lead.
